The grey clouds of yesterday’s rain are gone, and blue infuses the day.
The palm trees are swaying, but there is stillness.
The storm of December’s expectant holidays are over. It is that week between Christmas and the New Year which feels stolen. A week we may have to ourselves, before work begins again.
It gives me time to ponder what I will embrace this year and what I will let go.
We are the authors of our stories, and we decide. The age of victim-hood is over.
I like this idea that we are little microcosms of the universe. Jen Ward* an amazing sangoma (sound healer) shared this concept with me among many others, in her posts and group sessions. Among the truths she revealed was this: whatever we do in the world—whether it is a small kindness for another or a small injustice—we become the vessel for more of this in the universe. How can I add to the large container or the macrocosm of kindness and peace?
Before I approach each day, I can meditate on this? How can I be more peace and kindness in the world? It only takes a few minutes.
Then as I go about my day, I have so many opportunities to choose kindness or anger, worry or sadness. I realize it takes some initiative sometimes. But this blog will report back any successes and failures. We learn so well about what we want from doing what we don’t want. 🙂
The other thing I’m learning is how to listen to my body in taking action. Linear left brain thinking will take a back seat to creative right brain. I’ll pay attention to energy flowing through me as I do things and do more of those things that energize me.
For instance, today, I feel I need to ask some people to read my book and review it. But I’ll listen to my body instead of that voice that pushes “shoulds.” Am I energized when I ask this person? If I meet this idea with sludge like energy, than no, I won’t ask her. But If there is a certain energetic vibrancy to this idea, than Yes! I will go for it.
The focus this year is manifesting what I love while staying tuned in.
That’s the short list of my upcoming year. What is yours?
