If someone is really listening, he can hear your past, your present, your emotions, and whether or not you have a fuel of positive thoughts streaming through you or if you’re channeling Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street.
But they have to be listening with sensory perceptions beyond the ear. They need to turn on their emoto-sensory tentacles (made up word). This comes from their own emotional awareness. To the degree that they feel their own feelings they may feel yours.
As a girl, I was extra sensitive to surroundings and people. I was constantly tuned into my parents, especially my mother. Was she happy when she said good morning? Was she sad? Her mood determined my day.
My mom knew she affected me but rather than let go of her sadness which seemed to never loosen its hold on her, she would say to me, “You’re too sensitive, Therese.”
I set about a serious course to NOT be me. How do I become someone not sensitive? How do I shut off this “gift?”
Well I turned to some unhealthy habits. (Use your imagination–it’s not a tell-all blog)
Then I started writing about my experiences and I found people were interested in my extrasensory perceptions. I found I not only could hear things in people’s voices, like where their tension was, but I could tune into their energy.
Were they actually terrified under that macho voice?
Were they actually angry when they said those very sweet words?
And so began my journey to perceive in energy. I learned a lot of this from Jen Ward—truly the real deal of healers. But I realized that is was some innate ability I had that I had shut down for a long time.
Now—I’m not going around looking for trouble. But I can’t fall back asleep again. I must use my gifts for something.
I believe I’m a transformer. I transform people’s energy coming at me. No, I don’t get paid for this. It’s just what happens. And as I tune into this functioning of this magnificent world of energy, I feel myself becoming more loving.
This former liability is now a tool for empathy. And as long as I let go of the energy transforming around me and through me, I notice people around me dancing a little lighter.
What have you learned about tuning into the energy around you? How has it helped or hindered you?
